Let’s be real here: Guys are more excited about the bachelor party than the actual wedding itself. While it may not be the case with the groom, we are 100% sure the above statement applies to the groomsmen. With that out of the way, let’s get to the important question: where are you going to spend these final days of uninhibited freedom?
The beach, obviously, where the sun is hot, and girls are hotter. And not just any beach in your hometown, this isn’t a casual boys’ night out, it’s a bachelor party. But we also know Ibiza isn’t within everyone’s budget. So pack your trunk and throw on those sunglasses because we’ve got the top 5 beach destinations for your bachelor’s party; on both the East and West Coasts of the USA.
Florida is the obvious choice, but hey, there’s more than that! After all, Miami might be a bit too reminiscent of college spring breaks…
5. Atlantic City, New Jersey
We like to call the AC a wallet-friendly Las Vegas. It’s also pretty convenient to get to, you can fly into Philadelphia or drive in (turn it into a road trip while you’re at it).
Atlantic City is not for the weak-hearted. If you plan on coming here we can only imagine you’re down for some hard-partying. The city’s claim to fame is obviously the casinos (hint: Borgata is open 24/7). They’re all concentrated in the same area, making it convenient for you to casino-hop. Sick of the casinos? Fret not, with countless clubs scattered throughout the city, there is no reason for you to be bored and listless on your special getaway. not to do anything on your special getaway. We recommend getting a beach house, so you can have the whole place to yourself without any worries of disturbing other hotel guests. If it’s got a pool, even better! Perfect for lazing in the sun when the whole crew’s hungover after a wild night.
4. Montauk, New York
When people say “beach” and “New York” in the same sentence, it usually brings back bad memories of the snooty private school kids bragging about their summer vacations. Enter Montauk; a largely overlooked but no less charming destination. The experience is pretty much the same, minus the stroke-inducing prices which may actually work out to be an even better deal for those looking for that extra bang for their buck.
Montauk is a suitable location for those looking for a chill bachelor weekend; where partying isn’t a priority and you’d rather just get champagne-drunk while playing pool and sitting by a fire with your best buds. It’s lined with stunning beaches without crazy crowds, so you’ll get to wake up each morning to a serene horizon… Accommodation will be far less expensive than the Hamptons, so if you’re looking for something more low-key, Montauk is the place for you.
3. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
South Carolina may not be the first place you think of for a beach getaway, but hear us out. Myrtle Beach is lit. There are so many things to do here, you’ll be spoilt for choice. For daytime activities, you can go golfing, racing or release your inner kid at water parks (girls in bikinis are a plus).
Myrtle Beach may be a family-friendly destination, but there’s nothing PG about its’ nightlife. The beach is lined with nightclubs, strip-clubs, hookah-bars, you name it they have it. Derriere’s Gentlemen Club (do we even need to elaborate?) has a bring-your-own-bottle policy, so you get to choose your favorite drinks to sip on while getting a special show. If you want something more exclusive, check out Treasure Club for its’ VIP lounges.
2. Key West, Florida
Miami isn’t the only place Florida has to offer for a banging time. After all, it’s home to our favorite pie (key lime, anyone?) and some of the best water sports and diving. It also offers some sick pool parties like Dante’s where you can let loose, get drunk and have a ball.
The beach is chock-full with bars, so you’ll never get bored at night. While nightclubs are not as widely popular in Key West, you’ll find lots of live music, karaoke and beer at affordable prices. If the boys are up for some strip club fun, check out Red Garter Saloon and Bare Assets.
Fun fact: You can actually rent the house that was used in MTV’s Real World Key West. Yes, it is a bit too pink and obnoxious but if the boys are all cool with it, it would make for a funny joke.
1. South Beach, Miami, Florida
Of course, we couldn’t leave out the East Coast’s official party city. While drunk college days are never far from our memory, there’s no reason not to revisit everyone’s favorite spring break destination. So we have a more, “sophisticated” (read: expensive) idea: South Beach. If you’re going to have a bachelor party, why not go all out?
South Beach is the place to be at if you want to have a proper sun-and-sand experience. From beach volleyball, jet-skiing, flyboarding and even deep-sea-diving, you’ll definitely be getting your vitamin D fix here. The hotels in this area are higher up in the price range, but with infinity pools, sundecks and oceanside bars, who’s complaining?
Down on the West Coast, they’ve got a saying: If you ain’t drinking, then you ain’t playing… The following are all located within California, but honestly where else were you planning to go?
5. San Francisco Bay, California
SanFran knows what’s up! It may lean more towards the “city” end of the sphere, but that’s not a problem. Many hotels are located on the bay itself and have great pools, giving you an inspiring view to start your takeover of the city. The sheer density of bars makes it a perfect place for a bar crawl, or just an excuse for daily hangovers.
Also, we’ll let you in on a secret and keep it for you: you can have a porn-studio tour at SF Armoury. You’re welcome.
4. Santa Monica, California
Your classic SoCal experience. You can’t come to Santa Monica without breaking a wave. If you can actually catch some good waves, we’re sure it’ll impress a few girls. Venice Beach is lovely for a casual stroll to soak up all the chill Cali vibes, a good idea on a hungover morning. Speaking of hangovers, if you’re looking to get one, the Santa Monica Barcycle is your answer to get a taste of all the best bars in the area.
Luxe beach hotels are everywhere along Marina del Rey and the Venice and Santa Monica beaches; but for a real LA experience, book a beach house near the ocean. You won’t regret it.
3. Santa Barbara, California
Santa Barbara is the place for both classy gents and downright troublemakers. For those who like more sophisticated fun and are not keen on throwing up in the toilet all morning, you can consider signing yourselves up for the winery tours at… The winery tours are also definitely one to check out. And for the bad boys, Eos and Tonic nightclubs are for your pleasure.
East Beach provides great sailing options, and you can take sunset cruises and enjoy paddling. If you’re lucky, you might even see some whales.
There are other exciting activities that you can take up at the East Beach as well — they have great sailing options, sunset cruises and even paddling. If you’re in luck, you might be able to catch a glimpse of some whales whilst at the beach.
2. South Lake Tahoe, California
Ok fine, this isn’t actually a beach, it’s a lake. But it’s still a body of water, so it counts. Listing every single beach in California was getting too predictable.
Lake Tahoe is for the adventurous boys, the boys who want to be one with nature and the wilderness. Girls love their yoga retreats, so this is your version of it, complete with trekking and fishing. It’s definitely a different sort of bachelor experience, you might not be able to do hard-partying, but if you’re in for a real boys’ getaway, this could be for you. Many house rentals are by the lake, so you can still get your water fix.
Just a note of caution when choosing accommodation: Tahoe Keys is a residential marina community, so we don’t recommend staying there unless you want the police knocking on your door at 2 a.m. for disruption of peace.
1. Coronado, California
This, my friends, is the ultimate bachelor party beach destination. It offers a wide range of activities from sailing, jet-skiing, party buses and wine-tasting so you can have the most epic bachelor party known to mankind. Head to Fluxx for an insane nightclub experience, and Pure Platinum if you’re feeling naughty. Coronado has five beautiful beaches, three major resorts and no shortage of great beach house rentals.
So there you have it boys, the 10 best locations for a proper surf-and-turf bachelor getaway! We’ve given you a range of budgets and activities so choose wisely! It goes without saying, but do plan your budget carefully. You want to enjoy and come back to a happy wife and happy life, not spend the next four weeks sweating over your checking account balance… Happy (responsible) partying!
