A man’s best friend should deserve the best, including a good vacation. Here are some of the best East Coast destinations, some just a car ride away, for both you and your furry friend. Also, we humans love our floats — they’re the superior way to enjoy a vacation. So why not let your dog enjoy the good life too? You and your dog can float together and bask in all the glory of the sun and sea, or lake! You never have to feel guilty about leaving your furry friend somewhere while you get some Vitamin D with our dog floats!

Sanibel Island, Florida

Catch the stunning Gulf Coast sunsets on Sanibel Island, and head down to the stretch of cottages and hotels that will welcome your pup. You can chill at three pet-friendly beaches — Bowman's, Lighthouse Park, and Tarpon Bay Road with your pup. Your dog can accompany you on a driving tour through the mangroves of the JN Darling National Wildlife Refuge. You have to try the cinnamon buns at the Over Easy Café, or you could head to the Island Cow for a sumptuous brunch. By evening, watch the sky burst into an array of colors as you enjoy a lovely dinner with your dog at the outdoor tables on Captiva island.

Bar Harbor, Maine

Venture out to the rockface of Maine by the coast in Bar Harbor. Enclosed by the Acadia National Park, you can explore the endless landscape of mountains and lakes through hiking or biking. Leashed pets are also allowed on the boat tours, so you can relax with your dog on a lovely cruise through of Frenchman Bay. To travel across the island, you can take the Island Explorer, a FOC, dog-friendly shuttle. There is also a very big park for dogs that even has a pond for the pups to have fun paddling in!

Outer Banks, North Carolina

Located off the North Carolina coast, the Outer Banks encompasses charming little beach towns. Bring your furry companion to Bonzer Shack in Kill Devil Hills, a surf shack that serves up great grub and also has live music. You can also take your dog to John's Drive, a lunch spot in Kitty Hawk which offers special ice cream cups just for your dog! Scenic sights in the area include Cape Hatteras National Seashore, which is perfect to walk along with your pup. You can even drive your car onto certain sections of this park and spend the day fishing with your dog.

Lake Placid, New York

If you’re looking for an adventure, the Adirondack Mountains are perfect for you and your pet. The choice of outdoor activities is endless, or you could do it all in one trip. The Lake Placid Lodge is open to dogs and offers beautiful scenic views of the mountains. Your pup will be well taken care of as they provide a bed for your pet and homemade treats. There are also many pet-friendly lakes and walking trails in the vicinity for the both of you to explore together. The shops by Mirror Lake also allow dogs to accompany their owners while they shop.

Block Island, Rhode Island

Spanning across miles and miles of beach, the best way to enjoy Block Island is on foot or on a bicycle — also the best modes of transport for your furry pal to follow alongside you. The majority of the beaches allow your pets to enter, but the more famous beaches on the east side of the island do tend to get packed during the summer. As long as your puppy comes leashed, the Block Island Ferry provides an exciting trip to the island. There are numerous inns that will gladly house furry visitors. To energize both you and your companion, swing by Juice 'n Java for a refreshing smoothie and water and snacks for the pupper.
